Bill Clinton just created The Clinton Health Matters Initiative

Over the course of the last several decades in the United States, the landscape of health has vastly changed. Today more Americans are drinking high-calorie beverages instead of water; working more hours and sleeping less; and being less physically active than ever before. These changing lifestyles are not only taking a toll on our health, but driving up health care costs in a way that can't be sustained.

But the good news is this: healthier lifestyle choices today can improve our health tomorrow. And by helping more people access healthy lifestyles, and inspiring more people to make wellness a priority, we can build a healthier future for all.
The Clinton Health Matters Initiative (CHMI) was created to do just that – to help people change the course of their own health while simultaneously changing the systems and places that affect individual health. Over the course of the next few months, we'll be sharing a variety of tools and solutions that are improving health outcomes for people, communities, and businesses across the U.S. – and providing more ways for you to get involved in activating wellness with your friends and neighbors.

Here are some actions you can take to start:
Test your wellness knowledge with our quiz – and share it with your friends.
Learn more about the issues by reading a message from Ginny Ehrlich, CHMI's Chief Executive Officer. Visit the Clinton Health Matters website to see some solutions that are already working on the ground.

Bill Clinton wants to spend the day with you, maybe you will win the contest!

Dear Amy,
Hillary would not be where she is today without your support and dedication, and we are both so thankful for all you've done.
To thank you, I hope you'll seize this chance to come to New York and spend the day with me.

There is nothing I enjoy more than good conversation with good people, which is why I've enjoyed it so much whenever we've brought one of Hillary's strongest supporters to New York to spend the day with me -- and I'm happy to tell you that I've asked to do it again.
I'd love to discuss what's going on in your community today and around the world; some of the projects I've been working on at my foundation; or maybe even the last good book you read!

All you have to do is make a contribution to help retire Hillary's campaign debt between now and December 6, 2012, and you and a friend could win a free trip to New York.

Click here to make a contribution today and you and your guest could be on your way to New York to spend a day with me.

The thank you notes I've gotten from previous contest winners have really shown me how much people enjoy this, so I want to share a couple quotes with you:
The entire day with President Clinton far exceeded our expectations.

-- Gary and Margo, Iowa
Our day with President Clinton was outstanding. He was very kind to us both, and we were so impressed at each event.

-- Mary, Ohio
From the outside, our day with Bill Clinton was anticipated to be a brush with an uber-celebrity. From the inside, it was a momentary glimpse of real human being whose chosen path has led him to raise up the rest of humanity.

-- Karen and Phoebe, Pennsylvania
Click here to make a contribution and you will not only help pay down Hillary's campaign debt, but you will also be automatically entered to win a free trip for two to meet me in New York.
I've had the opportunity to talk to countless people over the course of my work and life, and I hope that I get the chance to meet you, too.
Thank you for the wonderful support you've shown to both Hillary and me over the years.

Bill Clinton awards local students All Ireland Scholarships

Speaking at the event, President Clinton said; “I would like to say to the students, today’s current economic crisis will pass and your education will endure, and it is very important that just as in making of peace, the Irish threw off the heavy hand of history to grasp for a brighter future, we throw off the burden of the current economic crisis to imagine a different future. What an education is, is a range of possibilities. It is a gift of personal freedom. It is a chance to make the most of, in spite of all the troubles at the moment.”

Bill Clinton says his foundation to tackle health gaps

his foundation is amassing a record of success on issues from HIV/AIDS in Africa, where it has persuaded drug companies to slash the price of anti-HIV drugs, to childhood obesity in the United States, partnering with beverage companies to get sugary drinks out of schools.

Clinton is taking a similar approach with the latest initiatives, enlisting Verizon, General Electric Co. and Tenet Healthcare Corp. as corporate partners.

All three - which together employ some 500,000 people - will start or extend wellness programs in their workplaces and communities to fight preventable illness through free exercise classes, organizing walking groups in poor neighborhoods, bringing farmers' markets to "food deserts" where grocery stores are rare and smoking-cessation programs.

GE presented their plan and what they already have done last month at our regional health meeting.

From the Clinton Foundation: Folks hit by Sandy still in need

We hope that this email finds you well and your family safe. Although some days have passed since we first felt the initial impact of Hurricane Sandy, hundreds of thousands of people are still experiencing its effects throughout the East Coast. Though progress has been made, full recovery will take time.

There is still work that needs to be done. We encourage you to reach out to your neighbors and communities and give whatever help you can - money, time, expertise. And even if you're not in the region, you can learn more about how to support areas that have been significantly affected by Hurricane Sandy by visiting relief effort websites for New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

As we've seen through our work, when people come together, more can be accomplished than any one person or group can do alone. Recovery will not be easy for everyone, but with your help, our homes, communities, and cities can begin to make progress.
