Tourism is Seen as Way Back for Haiti
Former U.S. President Bill Clinton, the New York Times and others agree that building up Haiti's tourism infrastructure is a critical facet of long-term recovery plans for earthquake-ravaged Haiti. Clinton, the United Nations' special envoy for Haiti, touted Haiti's tourism potential at a recent meeting of business leaders at the World Economic Forum, while the New York Times said in a Jan. 31 editorial that tourism could help boost Haiti's self-sufficiency by creating tens of thousands of jobs.
