August is Cataract Awareness Month, and the Clinton Giustra Sustainable Growth Initiative (CGSGI) is marking the completion of 6,000 cataract surgeries in underserved areas of Peru. Despite being preventable and relatively easy to treat, cataracts are the leading cause of blindness in the developing world and bring further hardship to communities that are already disadvantaged. CGSGI has partnered with Fundación Carlos Slim to support 50,000 cataract surgeries in Peru over four years.
