VIDEO Greetings from Bill Clinton

Last week, heads of state, business leaders, and nonprofit executives gathered in New York City for the sixth annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI). I started CGI after going to thousands of meetings over my career where people talked about issues but did little to solve them. We ask all CGI members to make a commitment to take action, and this year's attendees made nearly 300 new commitments valued at $6 billion. You can view highlights of the meeting here, and then take our quiz to see how these commitments, along with your support, are improving lives around the world. Earlier this month, we hosted our most recent Millennium Network Event -- this time in Brooklyn, New York -- to engage the next generation of philanthropists. This wonderful evening included performances from Chaka Khan and Talib Kweli. Sign up today to become a part of this growing network. You can read about these events and more in this month's e-newsletter. We couldn't continue to do this work without you. Thank you for your support.Bill Clinton

Bill Clinton Discusses Climate Change

Bill Clinton Says Clean Energy Will Cut Unemployment, Drive Growth

The fact is: there is no single area of near-term economic development with as much potential to heal the economic wounds that afflict our nation or to create new jobs and make for vibrant thriving communities than clean energy innovation. In part, this is because the job is so big. In part, it is owing to the fact that energy is everywhere; there is no corner of the society that can ably do without it in at least some small dose for very long. The interconnectedness and fast pace of 21st century America requires a booming energy sector, and the energy sector has critical weaknesses.

Bill Clinton says ‘Vote Strickland’ for a better job market

Clinton was asked three questions during his speech.

First, where are the new jobs going to come from?

“From small businesses, manufacturing and clean energy efficiency,” he answered.

Second, where’s the money going to come from?

“We need to figure out what it takes to get those loans.” Loans, he means, from the government.

Thirdly, if we can create the jobs and have the money to fund them, who’s going to fill them?

According to Clinton, more than 10 percent of the Ohio population is living at home because they can’t afford to move. This is due to the fact that people don’t have the job skills necessary to fill the available jobs out there.

“We just need to train them,” he said.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Former President Bill Clinton said Clinton put the blame for the economy on Republican policies before Strickland took office in 2007. He said Strickland has laid the foundation for a recovery in Ohio with strong economic development programs and deserves to be re-elected to a second term.
