President Clinton breaks ground today on a new communal hurricane shelter in Haiti
President Clinton breaks ground today on a new communal hurricane shelter at the École Communautaire Sainte Thérèse de Darbonne in Léogâne, Haiti. The structure will also serve as a school and is the first project to benefit from the Clinton Foundation’s $1 million donation for disaster preparedness. President Clinton has inspired commitments from other donors—including the American Red Cross, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the World Bank—to enable the construction of dozens of additional shelters.
